Other functions, such as using it as a pointer, rely on an infrared sensor that tracks the position of a \u201csensor bar\u201d above or below the television.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"310\" height=\"163\" src=\"http:\/\/desres20.netornot.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/wii-sensor-bar.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2060\" srcset=\"http:\/\/desres20.netornot.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/wii-sensor-bar.jpeg 310w, http:\/\/desres20.netornot.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/wii-sensor-bar-300x158.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">The accelerometer is an Analog Devices ADXL 330 and has three times the sensitivity of gravity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">It not only detects motion, but also reports the angle at which the Wiimote is held when it is not in motion &#8211; and not just one angle, but three: vertical, horizontal and rotational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch\/ETAKfSkec6A\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch\/ETAKfSkec6A<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">There are obviously many accessories, among them, we can find Wii MotionPlus, an accessory that uses a more precise and sensitive gyroscope, a device that measures orientation and angular velocity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" src=\"http:\/\/desres20.netornot.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/wii-motion-plus.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2061\" srcset=\"http:\/\/desres20.netornot.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/wii-motion-plus.jpeg 225w, http:\/\/desres20.netornot.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/wii-motion-plus-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">But now\u2026 can we use to as a controller for our virtual instrument?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Well, yes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">It is normally paired via Bluetooth, so this allows us to easily connect it to our computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Of course, we have to convert the Wiimote data streams into a module that our software can control, and we have several options for this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">On the Windows platform we can find GlovePIE, a free scripting language from Australian programmer Carl Kenner. It is fascinating for musicians because it includes a set of MIDI commands that work via the Windows MIDI Mapper and also commands for Open Sound Control (OSC), the communication protocol for sound and media processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Or we can access the data with Pure Data (Pd), an open source visual programming language.
